If you get a chance visit Terlingua on the west side of the park. Terlingua is an eclectic little town with quite the "vibe." This was where our canoe livery, Desert Sports, was located. The town has a historic ghost town area, a previous mining town for making mercury. There are quite the stories about miners and how they let off steam in town - especially considering they did not understand the dangers of mercury exposure back then. We enjoyed dinner at the Starlight Theater, a local restaurant with quite the history - we'd definitely come back.
